And sure enough, the more I actually got quiet and got less involved, the more Ryan was able to kind of calm down and he ended up coming up and you know

being in the presence of the dog and sure they weren't like rolling around together, but he was able to tolerate it in a way that he wasn't when he was at that heightened level of distress.

And it took me actually stepping back, doing less, you know, finding those moments in your children's development where you foster their own independence, where they find, you know, their power to navigate within instead

of using you to do it.

I it's a challenge I know for all parents, but particularly for my relationship with Ryan.

Right.

Absolutely.

Yeah, it's the natural progression.

Absolutely.

Well, I really think about Mothers Quest as a community and a movement to help mothers in the years when we're raising our children live what I call our epic lives.

And that's, you know, where we really where we realize that we're the hero of our life journey and that we move into action to fill our lives with the things that matter most.

And so

So Epic, you know, has that connotation of the heroic journey, but it also is an acronym mnemonic for what I have found are the guideposts in the years when I'm raising my children that if these things are showing up, I think I'm going to live a more epic life.

So E stands for engaged and that's being engaged mindfully with my children.

P is the passionate and purposeful difference that I want to make that's beyond my family.

I is invested in myself.
