And so by the age of 15, the family is broken up and the father's just disappeared.

And she goes to live with relations.

No, her real name was Margaretha Gertrude Zeller.

Not quite as glamorous and a very good Dutch name, good Frisian name.

So she goes to live with relations...

They don't know what to do with her.

So they send her off to be trained to be a kindergarten teacher at Leiden.
