And then when I was writing my Korean historical fiction, because I fell in love with Korean history when I was in my later 20s, and I found an agent who really...

She's a Korean American, and she was just like, I wish I read your book as a teenager.

And I think that, yeah, she's just such a champion for diverse literature.

And I think what I learned is that being able to find an agent who really believes in your work

And then also an editor, because I've been working with the same editor now for like over eight years.

And being able to stay with the same editor and work with the same editor for all those years is actually really rare.

Because a lot of times authors will be paired up with an agent or editor, but then the editor might leave the industry or like switch to a different house.

the agent, it might not work out.

And so I think being able to find people who could champion your work consistently throughout your career is a blessing, but it's also, it really impacts your career and your sanity basically.

That's something I learned.

So I think because since I was young, I used writing as a way to cope with life.

So I began with journaling.

And so I think there was, since I was young, through the years of just writing in journals and stuff, I think there was this core belief that my stories mattered.

And so in a sense, it's a bit arrogant to think like, oh, my stories deserve to be published.

But I think every creative needs, whether it's like needs that either confidence or

that touch of arrogance to believe like, my stories deserve to be told.

But at the same time, you need the humility to embrace that you're not a perfect writer and there's always room to grow.

And so like always working on developing your craft.

So it's like you need to be confident and slightly arrogant, but also like you need the humility to grow as a writer.

So for me, it was when I was writing, trying to publish my British historical, I received over 100 rejections, like I shared.
