And all of us have to ask ourselves, what more can I do for the cause of justice?
What places can I not go to?
What places can I patronize?
What people should I be lifting up or voices should I be making sure are getting heard in this moment in time?
And how can I be showing up in every circle that I am in as an advocate against white supremacy and
and against this elected authoritarian that's in the white house how do i do that because that that's what's going to be required because we'll look back in five years and 10 years and people will wonder what do we do as we watch democracy continue to crumble and if your answer is you know i just hoped and i prayed that things would get better like that's not enough
It should be something, right, that's tangible, something that's real, right?
Like I started writing a post every single day about, you know, from the Equal Justice Initiative, right, about racism, about inequality and segregation.
I don't care if you start a book club, right?
Find something.
that you are doing actively put your hands on the problem and that may be protesting where you go to school that may be making sure you send your kid to an hbcu or just donating to the united negro college fund or equity alliance tennessee for all some of these organizations that do organizing but we all do right should feel i would say this we should all feel convicted
to do more than whatever we've been doing.
And I'm saying that as an elected official who's been expelled, as one who protested on the House floor last week, a brother who got detained, I understand the sacrifice is a part of this, but we all need to ask ourselves, what more can I be sacrificing in this moment in time?
I mean, we can count on white support that's actually showing up in this moment in time.
Right.
We can't hope for white support.
But, you know, we were protesting and marching just yesterday and I had a rally this morning lunching.
our run for Congress for District 9, and we had white folks who were there.
White people who are willing to sacrifice in this moment is the only support we can count on.
