I think there are some policies that we need, but then you have to have the right people.
You have to have energizing candidates who can actually fight to make these things happen.
You can't have the old guard of people in their 70s and 80s and 90s trying to articulate a message that is then going to resonate with people who are millennials, people who are Gen Z or Gen Alpha.
It's just not going to happen.
We have to have leadership in this moment that's active, that realizes the job isn't just to do press releases.
The job is to build power, to transform this system that has been designed
to destroy our access to resources opportunities political power and speak truth to that because we don't want to be lied to we don't want to be told you know if you just keep waiting things are going to get better because they haven't we've seen people play the game and we are still right here where black political power is threatened access to resources are taken away and given to billionaires capitulation has become the new thing for for moderates to do rather than resist
This is why this MAGA movement, like if we're honest about it, it is a new iteration of the Klan.
Like it is trying to make it has mainstreamed.
racism, it's mainstream white supremacy, it's mainstream bigotry, homophobia, transphobia.
It's just mainstreamed all the worst of who we are as a country and has given people license to say, you know what, I can say the things that I used to say when I was in my youth again.
I can believe the things that I used to believe
back when black folks couldn't even sit at the same restaurant counter as us again.
And in the state of Tennessee, where the Ku Klux Klan was actually founded, we are seeing that mentality of the South rising again, the South rising to fulfill its vision, its mission of white people being on top and everybody else being on the bottom, being instituted into the actions of the legislature.
And you see some people are smiling,
some are snickering some of them shouting trump because they don't view us as as human our humanity comes second to their ability to weaponize their positions of power to take away dilute destroy black political power this is this is what they want and in mississippi i'll just say this quickly in mississippi they're doing and seeking to do the same thing in the old state house
They're going to the old state house that hadn't been used since the early 1900s when they were taking and changing the constitution to deprive black people of political power.
This is a victory lap for white supremacy.
