He is a vile and vicious racist who now has position of power to institutionalize that harm, institutionalize white supremacy in a way that is going to be devastating to us for generations.
And I think that's what we, and you understand so very well, right?
Like the white supremacy and the power of it did not die when they stopped lynching us publicly in the ways that they had done on popular trees, right?
Like it wasn't destroyed.
Their power and that hatred dissipated.
And now they wear suits and now they wear black robes and now they wear badges and now they sit in the Oval Office.
They did burn Tulsa.
They did do a Memphis massacre.
They did lift us on poplar trees and still we're here.
It's our message to the white supremacists who have decided that we somehow have lost.
That this is finally the nail in the coffin.
We hear the echoes of our ancestors who have still made real the ideals of the Constitution written on that parchment of paper in our blood that, y'all, we the people.
The reason I love those three words aren't because they old.
It's because it sounds so black.
We the people.
We the people.
I mean, there are a couple of things.
One, you have to have policies that speak to the problems of young folks.
I mean, the reality is most of my peers don't think they're going to be able to own a home in their 20s, their 30s, maybe in their 40s.
People aren't having kids because of how expensive life is.
