Yeah, you just named it.

A lot of it has to do with the Saharan dust out there currently, but the big headline that we've been tracking for months now is really the El Nino that is underway and it's a strong El Nino.

You're looking at the map over the equatorial Pacific waters and where you see that red and even the purple or magenta that indicates very warm waters there that extend well out into the central portions of the Pacific and this pattern that we see.

tends to kind of change the overall jet stream pattern around.

So with that strong signal of warm water that we see over the equatorial Pacific, it gives us high levels of wind shear that traverse portions of the Caribbean and into the Atlantic, what we call the main development region.

And that wind shear tends to shear the tops off of the thunderstorms.

And keep in mind, those storms are kind of like seedlings to develop a tropical cyclone.

So with that shear so strong and in play, it's very difficult for anything to organize over those areas of the Atlantic.

So looking at the projections now,

We're on pace to be a record El Nino with every signal that we have here in the weather office that we look at showing over two degrees of warming possible as we head into September, October, and November.

The winter season could be record-breaking for us here as well because El Nino not only has an influence on the tropical Atlantic Basin and in the summertime, but also into

portions of winter time as well.

So it's going to be really interesting to see what happens as we head into fall and winter.
