Uh the next stop was Akita, which we've been to before.

We love Akita, uh it's a great city.

And they have the uh Kanto Festival, uh, which is

You may have seen images of this because it's pretty visually distinctive.

Uh lots of lanterns on these really long fucking poles.

Increasingly long.

They start off as short poles, but over the course of the night people challenge themselves and make the poles a lot longer.

And they they lift these huge fucking arrays of lanterns.

Perpendicular to the ground.

So that so they start lying down sort of like a like a boat of lanterns, and then they lift them up, and then over the course of a hour and a half long.

Quasi competition, quasi exhibition.

They uh take turns lifting them as individuals, like so 50 kilograms of lanterns that are, you know.

hundred feet high or whatever the hell.

And r m they'll they'll show off.

They'll you know, like I'll put 'em on my w put the pole on my waist, I'll put the pole on my shoulder, I'll put the pole on my forehead, I'll I'll while it's on my forehead I will

pull out a fan and and fan myself and do a little dance.

Uh it's r the balance required for this is insane.
