Cratering?
uh uh last time around and I keep seeing reports, especially if you look at the various communities of people trying to publish iOS apps.
I'm in a couple of slacks.
Uh I Reddit has decided that I really like iOS developer content, which is not true.
But I must be clicking it enough that it's convinced.
Um
Somebody posted that they used to make a full-time living with 10 apps.
And I guess, you know, you could probably make ten apps if it was your full time job.
You could make ten apps by hand if they were small and focused.
He writes, um
Historically, maintaining an average 5% market share in each niche was enough to pay my bills.
But ever since AI coding tools took off, the store has been flooded daily with low effort AI generated copycat apps, and they're severely eating into my market share.
My average market share per app has dropped to around 0.5 to 1%, and it's still falling.
To make the same living, I estimate I'd need to build and manage 70 to 80 more.
