Really framing migrants as being like the other and the cause for a lot of our social issues.
That is that what one nation is built off.
Yes.
And in fairness, Labour and the coalition did both slam this proposal.
They said that One Nation's like aggressive policy would actually like
really affect particularly regional communities like in terms of skilled workers, people who work in like construction and health care.
And it could actually even send the economy into recession.
So they wouldn't they were not on board for this.
But Labour and the coalition are also under a lot of pressure to come to the table on this issue.
I mean, as you've spoken about on the podcast, One Nation could become the next major opposition party, Labour's biggest challenge at the next federal election.
And so they're coming out making migration and migrants like this the middle of the culture war.
The middle of the culture war.
They're really stoking this fire.
And so Labor's under all this political pressure to also come to the table and come out with their own policy on migration.
And it's just feeding this awful kind of culture war and fire.
But also the context around all of this is that we are seeing this rise in public dislike and distrust of migrants.
Like this fire is really being fueled, not just in Australia, in the UK, in the US.
We well and well and truly know about the US.
According to the latest news poll, which is a survey that was published in The Australian last night, around two-thirds of Australians want fewer immigrants.
