I was young.

I was a waitress at the Sheraton.

I was going to art school at Whitecliffe.

And then I got a job at the Globe Hotel.

Yeah, that got a bit rock and roll, I suppose.

No, that's the Globe in town.

No, the Globe Hotel was on the corner of Wakefield and Mount Street.

It's long gone.

But it was when I got into hospo that things kind of went a bit, not bad, but like, you know, a bit crazy.

I loved it.

It was.

What I learned from that is I learn a lot from women who were older than me in management roles.

I was young, you know, when I lied about my age to get a job at the Globe, I think I was 17.

I think you had to be 18.

And all these women, you know, back then in Doc Martens and blue lipstick and spiky hair, and I was like,

I want to be like them.

And so I found a lot of inspiration.

And they took me under their wing.

It was a very nurturing family.

Hospitality can be like that.
