You work together.

You party together.

You usually end up dating someone in the pub.

And so I just found a bit of a tribe there.

Before I found my comedy tribe, I found my hospo tribe.

And the Globe was very much like that.

I've got a couple of friends still to this day.

And then I moved to the Mixing Cafe, which was very much like that.

And then on to Verona after that, which was again very family.

I don't know how I lived through those years.

But the Mixing Cafe was there for like five or six years.

And that's where I met Sarah.

And Sarah came over to my house one night for a joint and just basically never left.

Yeah.

Here we are 25 years later, you know, like, and she's just a queen, you know, she's, you know, we lived in Melbourne together for a couple of years, which is wild.

And she went on to be a nurse and I went on to do whatever I'm doing.

And holding my own in a room full of men in a way, you know, like I was lucky that, and it was something I came to understand later that I was really lucky that walking to a room full of men didn't intimidate me at all.

But then – and so it took me a long time to understand that that's fucking confronting.

It's pissed men and it's blokey men and it's men who all think they're fucking alphas, which as soon as you think that, you ain't.

You know, it's all these robust kind of characters.
