And unfortunately, this whole plan was going to take a lot of time.
So it wasn't until October 8th, 1997, that's about a year later after all of that went down, that the ATF investigation into 34-year-old Gerard came to a head.
Two undercover agents who had worked their way into a social circle over the last several months knew what drugs he was using.
They knew where he kept them.
They also now knew what guns he owned.
In Delaware at the time, drug users couldn't legally own firearms.
So the ATF executed a search warrant at Gerard's house that evening.
They seized
21, 2-1, 21 guns alone.
They also seized a bunch of cocaine and marijuana.
And, you know, after finding all of that, there was potentially a lot of prison time on the line for Gerard.
Yeah.
But they weren't even done.
The undercover agents had a list of everyone they had seen partying with Gerard, including multiple affair partners.
I can't with these brothers.
Garbage.
And these were all affair partners, too, that his wife didn't know anything about.
So the ATF started peppering them with subpoenas to show Gerard that a trial would drag up all of this dirty laundry.
They're basically like in the periphery of his life being like, we know everything and we're going to get all these people on the stand if you don't start talking.
