Obviously, she had a lot of personality.
Very strong likes and dislikes.
While she was in school, she joined the Korean Undergraduate Student Association, the advertising club, and she also volunteered with the American Red Cross.
She held two part-time jobs, one at a campus library and one at a local Korean restaurant.
And she, by all accounts, had a lot of friends.
People said that Cindy got along with everyone.
She made sure that people around her always felt good.
She was really that type of person that you would feel lucky to know, especially in college when everyone's going to school for the first time and doesn't know anyone.
Like Cindy was always making people feel welcome.
And one of the friends that she had was a student named Richard Che.
Before long, their friendship blossomed into something more.
Richard moved into Cindy's apartment two miles from campus.
And as far as Cindy was concerned, everything was going great between them.
But Richard felt a little differently.
In September of 2001, just a month before Halloween, he broke up with her.
And it does seem to kind of be out of the blue.
It appeared to be something that he was mulling over for a while because he moved out of their place right away.
He had a plan.
And Cindy was completely heartbroken by this.
Friends that knew her well said that it kind of sent her down a little bit of a depressive spiral.
