Have you been to church camp?

Is that why?

Well, I went to church camp when I was probably in the second grade, and it was just being locked in the church basement watching VeggieTales the whole time.

Like, I don't think I learned anything.

Yeah, like a bunch of agents came and like saved us from the basement of this church.

Yeah, right, right, right.

Yeah, and she kept telling us to shut up so no one would hear us.

No, it was just that, but I did go, I worked at a summer camp for years when I was in college.

Oh, I didn't know that.

And it was like in the forest of upstate New York, which is actually where this one takes place.

So I'm curious if we went to the same camp or if they went to the camp that I was a counselor at.

But this is from a listener named Carly and Carly writes, I was recently listening to your episode about the haunted church camp and it reminded me of this story that I had to share.

So this happened when I was around 14 years old and I was attending a summer camp in upstate New York.

For some context, it's important to know that there were three girls' cabins and four boys' cabins with campers ranging from 12 to 16 years old and we were all split up by age.

This story takes place on one of the annual camping trips on one of the nearby islands across the lake.

Every cabin would be going on this trip together.

So there was a policy that changed at the camp because of the events in this story.

So we split up into groups of four, we got into our canoes, and the entire camp paddled across the lake to set up our tents for the night.

It was about 25 to 30 minutes to paddle.

And on the way there, everyone was really excited.
