He said last year that one of the things that was on his mind was that Westbrook is really good and he had it in his head that Westbrook could be taking his spot and that that motivated him a little bit.
You know, it pushed him a little bit for what I find that really interesting that that was a concern that he was willing to admit that all season long.
He kept thinking if I screw up Westbrook will become the starter.
And then I think about that with regards to this year because what happened when he went out?
Well,
Peyton Watson came in and had an awesome year and an awesome run.
And I wonder if he's dealing with some of those similar thoughts.
He actually talks about when his breakout happened at Peach Jam his junior year, which is a big summer AAU tournament, where the guy, he was coming off the bench playing very limited minutes, but the guy ahead of him missed some practices or something.
And so Christian started, played great, and never gave it up.
So he has the opposite of this.
And now, so I wonder if that's always weighed on his mind of like, well, I got my opportunity from someone not getting, you know.
Yeah, I think you're right.
And just a general raising of intensity.
He did say, and we've heard this story a million times, but I love it every time.
He said he was an extremely hard worker, and then he got to the NBA and saw how hard Jokic worked, and he said he, quote, ran circles around me and my work ethic.
I just love to hear it, man.
