For more than 30 years.

So it feels like decades of this.

But really that intensification of this conversation is really probably a decade old.

And it feels forever for victim survivors and people who are affected and people who are in the industry.

But actually if you think about the world and how slow it works with some of these things, it's not that long.

So I do think there are we we've still trying to get people to go.

It's not just a private thing that it's not a good relationship or you know he's just responding because he's tired and stressed.

We're still kind of getting people to go.

Actually, there's something really unacceptable about the use of power and control in relationships to, you know, humiliate.

Attack, harm somebody else.

We're actually getting people to that.

And um, I do think there are concrete things we we need to do.

We know that if we can get in early, the first time someone seeks support, if we can get a response that meets their need and is commensurate to what they need at that time and is done the right way, we can support people to start that safe pathway or that journey to safety.

We don't really fund our DV services to do that to the point we'd like.

So that's like a thing we could actually do.

That's a that's a button government can push.

We do know that if we do um some of the evidence-based prevention that focuses on things like the dr the real drivers of domestic violence, which despite what people are saying on Talkback Radio, aren't cost of living and financial stress.

But are gender inequality, harmful, you know, versions of masculinity.

If we do prevention that actually addresses that and we do it at scale and we do it consistently, and we do it across the life course, so we don't just focus on little kids, we focus on everyone.
