And that can land harsh, I reckon, for people who are both impacted by domestic violence and people who are survivors of uh particularly of uh domestic violence homicide.
I do worry about it when we use numbers in this way that says, Oh, okay, this weekend was particularly bad because of X number of people in X number of days.
For me, it's like
Every day, every one of these should be as impactful as each other.
But there is something weird about the way in our society we need to use numbers to almost like bolster why it matters.
That I think that can be really frustrating for people listening in because it's like, so which number do you feel really hits your hits the button of this should be the top story on the news?
I'm like, you know.
Why does it need to be a cluster for it to matter?
You know, when you think back about the road toll kind of issue, it's a really interesting sort of metaphor.
In order to get those strategies to be like, yep, we can do this, we can do regulation, law enforcement, etc., we actually had to do a mental change in the community about that, you know, you could use seatbelts, or that there was a real understanding that it
mattered and there was a community change there.

It's super old and I remember when this happened, like I know that as a baby my parents put me in a bassinet and chucked me in the backseat, n unrestrained.
And um that was just normalized and it's that denormalizing process that happened before.
it became like accepted that we would do speed limits, that we would, you know, find people who didn't wear a seatbelt, etc.
So there is this sort of process.
I feel like we're in that period now where we're saying, actually there are things that we believe need to be more regulated or require more attention.
