And I think for me, does arranges so powerfully between
um the large idea, the the the reaching towards the infinite, but also
The human, the the pebble in the hand.
Um and everybody remembers skipping stones when they were young.
If you're lucky.
Yes, of course.
Um so
Does uh Greenbeim was, you know, on the margins of that scene actually in East Germany in the uh late eighties.
So this was really a whole generation
of writers born probably in the late fifties, sixties and beyond, who never had the opportunity to publish in the socialist state.
They were barred from official publishing.
And so that energy, that extraordinary kind of poetic and creative energy, went into a a really extraordinary vibrant scene of music.
uh painting, poetry, um mostly people living in squats, um living illegally, um, and a network of amazing magazines and readings.
Um so Doors was on the margins of that scene even then, and there are some gorgeous um poems with uh pictures and illustrations with artists in some of the magazines.
And so I think that's where I first really came across him, and I thought
Oh, oh this is something special.
Um but there were many poets at that time that I thought were doing something which was completely outside the main
Anglo uh Anglophone traditions.
Uh very exciting, that poetry under pressure in some way, and what happens to it.
