And the bottom was, you know, the signatures and that sort of thing.

So it was not impossible to duplicate it.

Oh, God, yes.

It was terrible.

It was terrible.

But the reason it worked out is because...

It was a different world then.

You know, states were very cut off from each other in terms of their documents and their records.

So it was not all computerized.

You couldn't connect somebody just by their social security number and track them all around the country.

I never knew.

I mean, maybe he was driving all over the place and talking to people and hiring private detectives.

You know, I don't know.

We had this kind of catch-22 thing where in Colorado, we couldn't get social security numbers because you had to show a photo ID if you were an adult, you know, if you were not getting a number as a baby or a child.

And...

We couldn't get a photo ID without a social security number.

You needed that to get a driver's license.

So we were kind of stuck.

But I knew that back in California, you could get a driver's license without having to have other photo ID.

So we made this trip to my mother's place that was specifically to get California driver's licenses.
