Avocados is not an easy thing to grow.
It can take like 30 years to grow an Haas avocado tree.
You know, this is people's lives.
It's a generational trade.
And then you have guys coming in armored, in armed vehicles saying, I'm going to fucking kill you or you're going to pay me a quota, which is typically 80% of how much these farmers are earning.
Jesus.
How do you even survive?
How do you support your family?
How do you support your crop?
If 80% of your revenue is going to extortion fees, or if you can't pay that, this is no longer your land.
We own it and we run it.
So people are fleeing, leaving their generationally owned avocado orchards, or they're being murdered, or they're paying an extortion fee to the point where they lose their livelihoods entirely.
So yes, every single,
method has been taken over by them.
And of course, in order for that to happen, it goes back into what you were saying earlier, that directly ties back to the ignorant politicians who allow it to happen and who are profiting off of it.
Because that's one thing that I really believe that there could be a crackdown on and say, listen, you guys want to traffic your drugs and your arms?
Leave the farmers alone.
You know, leave the pipe, the oil lines alone.
That stuff stays legal, but they don't do that.
I mean, great example of this, of just how high it goes, Miss Universe.
