Well

no, because a lot of people think there's this thing called common law husband and wife.

Yeah.

So you live together.

You cohabit you cohabit, you live together, whatever, and then after a certain period of time, magically the gods bestow some kind of

settlement on you that you get the rights that you would if you were married, but that's not the case.

There isn't there aren't any rights, or very few rights.

And the very few rights that there are are very complicated and difficult to enforce.

So it's actually worse in some senses.

Marriage gives you a whole bunch of protections that just living together doesn't give you.

But the government are consulting at the moment and asking whether or not as a society we want to change that.

And there's a big divide.
