And we can't really say how, but it's one of those things that makes you not just read into the moment of the second half of the book, but to reread your sense of what you've read before.
And that I found quite clever because it sort of undid
a whole series of my own expectations from the first half of the book.
Yeah, that structure crept up on me.

Well, look, let's get straight into the books that you've read for us, beginning with the latest novel from the French-Moroccan journalist and writer Leila Slimani.
And she's also written books of non-fiction, apart from her journalism, including A Study of Sex in Morocco.
Well, look, I read this one as a standalone novel and it does work as such, I think, but it's actually the third in a series known as The Country of Others.
which is based in part on her own family history.
And what that means, though, is that the dramatist's persona at the very front of the book is really useful because it gives us a sort of potted history of the main character's family.
But at the heart of it is a woman named Mia, born in Rabat in 1974.
Her grandmother was French, her grandfather was Moroccan,
And her parents are both middle-class Moroccans, with her father a financier and her mother a doctor.
