Well, sort of everything.
And although this is a story, Rowana, about this windy, dramatic island, steep, difficult paths, plenty of birds, beautifully, really beautifully described natural world, it's the sea that defines Miranda, though, isn't it?
Yeah, very much.
But it has been disrupted.
So this is a woman whose working life had been as a marine biologist.
She felt most comfortable in the sea.
She sort of feels uncomfortable in her body and it's a body that's changing.
She's at menopause and she feels like her waist is thickening, her skin is changing and that she's sort of slightly lumbered down by the air and by gravity.
So she longs for this water.
But a doctor has said to her,
You can't get under the sea.
You shouldn't put your head under.
It's too dangerous for you to dive.
So, you know, this is a woman in crisis in relation to the sea, isn't she?
And that they operate in the world in different ways.
I mean, in a sort of Shakespearean sense, he's a practical person.
He knows how to fix things.
He's very much of the earth.
And she's drawn to this, you know, moving fluid world and to watching the seals and to being aware of...
