beautifully done and your sense of what's real and what's not real, what's monstrous and horrifying or what's beautiful and compelling and attractive shifts as the novel goes on, which is part of like things and bodies are being transformed.
It's also a novel that pulls on all sorts of different literary traditions about...
and demons and monsters and things falling off the edge of the world.
And some of that is done through the journals of KJ, the mysterious woman who has made these effigies and left them all over the island.
So there's a sense that all these different traditions are coming together in this wild place.
And I guess the thing that Chris Neen does as a writer is push those elements in a sort of sexual and erotic way while also writing about nature and landscape so beautifully.
That's Chris Neen's Rite of Spring.
