It sets up so many sort of delicious puzzles and questions for us because this isn't Groundhog Day, the movie that we've seen that was funny and that has the same day happening again and again in exactly the same way because there are rules that do and don't work in this experience.
So in the first time she was in this day and she went to see a colleague and a friend, she burnt her hand.
at their flat.
And when she finds herself in this day again, she still has this burn on her hand.
And as the days go on, the impact on her body remains with her.
And some objects, some pieces of clothing stay with her.
So the rules of how this strange experience works are

And not only does he take her seriously, rather than doubting her, he doubts himself because she tells him about conversations they'd had in an earlier version of this day, which he can't remember.
He didn't doubt that I was telling the truth, we're told.
He'd spoken to me and had forgotten it.
That was what scared him.
It was one thing for me to have encountered a fracture in the normal progression of time.
But the idea that he had played a part in my day, that he had had conversations and done things he could not remember, gave him the same feeling of faintness and unease which I had had.
And so it becomes also a portrait of this relationship and the way that they're working on this problem together.
And also, I mean, I thought she put up with that or dealt with that much longer than I could have.
I think I would have gone a bit mad by about day three.
And instead, they're trying to work this out together again and again and again until it becomes unbearable, this idea of what's unsettled and what's likely and what's probable.
And then she starts to wonder what this means for her.
