And that's part of what you're saying about our relationship to this narrator, because at times I found myself getting exasperated by her.
And then I thought, of course, reading isn't necessarily about likability or feeling that, you know, you're sharing the experience with the narrator.
But it really put me in a sort of point of tension with her, trying to work out what I made of her as the voice of the book.
But I think what we can say, Cassie, is that we're then meeting another character across another week and that character is Lacey, the woman who Heloise has been longing for.
And so we get a different perspective on the world, even a different sort of style of writing and energy.
I actually quite liked the energy in the second half of the book when we're taking into another place and another woman's perspective and desires and dreams and crises.
Yeah, it becomes uneasy, almost a sort of psychological thriller.
And we can't really say how, but it's one of those things that makes you not just read into the moment of the second half of the book, but to reread your sense of what you've read before.
And that I found quite clever because it sort of undid
a whole series of my own expectations from the first half of the book.
Yeah, that structure crept up on me.
I was questioning it at some point and then I thought, oh, I know why she's doing this.
This has been carefully considered.
But don't come to this book for answers.
