identification with the term Asperger's because it was current for a while.

Those of us who are autistic, we don't really get to belong in a lot of places.

We don't really get to be part of groups or clubs in a lot of ways that really feel comfortable to us.

I wouldn't want to diminish the term Asperger's for somebody who feels like that's a way they want to identify.

I think it's just a very personal choice.

I know a lot about the controversy behind the term Asperger's, but

I just think we need to make our own language about how we identify.

And so I call myself autistic, but if you don't, that's okay with me.

I respect that.
