But nobody knew that.
So now our parents are even more, you can't do this, you can't look like that, you can't do this.
Behave, behave, behave.
And so we're going through all this change and we need to find our feet and make mistakes and do all that sort of stuff.
But we're not being allowed to make those mistakes and we're being judged by, and parents are going, oh, if they're moody now, they're going to be moody forever.
And if they don't talk to people, it's not how it is.
I want them to see the glimpses of those people.
Yeah.
I just had whānau to stay and my son, we had a roast and he cleaned all the dishes afterwards and I said to my brother, did you put the veggies into the container and put them in the fridge?
He goes, no.
My son did that.
And I could have gone to him and gone, you never do that when I'm there.
No, he doesn't.
But he can do it and I know he can do it and I know he has that capacity.
He just doesn't do it with me.
But that's fine.
But we think, oh, they have to be perfect and they have to be this –
But it's putting so much pressure on our kids instead of letting them find their way through this change, make the mistakes they need to.
So, yeah, it's got to be left a little bit more organic for them to go through there.
And, man, how many people just talk to someone who's had an adolescent who was beside themselves because their kid was moody, they weren't listening, they weren't doing this, they weren't doing that, and now you talk to them and the kid's 25 years old doing absolutely fine.
