It is sweet corn season in the village, and I don't know about you, but we eat it with dinner every chance we get this time of year.
In Flint, my brother and I worked with a few Russian folks at the market, and when it was slow they would teach us the Russian word for various veggies.
The only one I still remember is corn.
Kukoruza.
Pretty great word.
We would spend ages shucking corn.
Some folks prefer to take their ears home still in the husk, but plenty want to leave the leaves and silk behind, so we'd shuck whenever we had a spare moment.
I came home all summer with corn silk in my hair.
