Well, when I was little, one of my closest friends had all of the Lord of the Rings action figures.
And every time I went over to her house, she made us play with them for hours on end, recreating scenes from the films, recreating just her favorite moments, usually Aragorn and Arwen scenes, a lot of those.
When I was in Girl Scouts, we would always go see the films every year when they came out in theaters.
But I did not get into the books or, to be honest, the films back then.
It was not until when I was in high school and my boyfriend at the time peer pressured me into watching the films again.
and dragged me kicking and screaming into playing Lord of the Rings online, which I've been playing for many years.
And I was hooked.
I swore I was going to play the game for a few hours.
I was going to try it out.
I certainly was never going to pay for it.
And once I was in the game, diving into Middle Earth, looking at this 30,000 foot view that they have, the way they fill in everything, the love and detail that they have for Tolkien's works, it was contagious.
I couldn't help but fall in love with Tolkien's works too.
And all of a sudden I was at Half Price Books every weekend grabbing...
everything I could get my hands on, which oddly enough was the Silmarillion.
And that is the book I started with.
