And I think sometimes we make it into a bigger thing than it is, you know?
It's like such a scene.
I've got to change my KiwiSaver.
And then you click a few buttons and you're like... Yeah, you don't even have to do anything, right?
It's actually done for me.
And I click maybe three buttons.
I think they're useful conversation starters, but they can actually derail some people and just shut them completely off because they think, oh, it's just impossible.
Why start?
So I think these numbers are not necessarily wrong.
They're just incomplete.
And your real number depends on your own situation, like your housing, your health, your family, your KiwiSaver, your debt, and whether you want to stop working entirely or just buy some more freedom.
And when I work with my clients, it's more about breaking it into almost milestones.
So just reiterating for what that would look like for lots of people, it's kind of strengthening the foundation, creating that surplus to invest really consistently, reduce the debt risk in terms of that mortgage and keep increasing choice.
So I think a big number can motivate some people and paralyze others.
In my experience, it's those milestones that you kind of hit that kind of keep people kind of moving forward.
Yeah.
And I think that's what life is, right?
It's kind of catching the winds, learning the lessons.
No one does it perfectly, but it's the trajectory that counts.
And that, again, is really important.
