I'm just at a news conference in Lille where the police here have announced some new measures surrounding the game between England and Wales on Thursday in Lons.
Of course Russia playing Slovakia in Lille which is just about a half an hour drive away from Lons and the police have announced after quite a long meeting this afternoon
that they're going to introduce an alcohol ban in Lille and Lons from 6 p.m.
tonight until 6 a.m.
on Friday morning.
What that means is that you will not be able to buy any alcohol from shops, supermarkets, petrol stations, off licenses.
and there's also a ban on drinking in public you will be able to drink indoors in bars or restaurants but those bars and restaurants will all have to close by midnight and all drinks including soft drinks are going to be served in plastic containers
Now these measures are aimed at making sure that we don't have a repeat of the scenes which we saw in Marseille both in and outside the stadium.
Regarding the scenes inside the stadium and what that means for Russia, well UEFA today decided to punish Russia by giving them a £120,000 fine.
which I think is going to be a small change.
That's not going to have much effect on the Russian football union.
But then also they're going to have this suspended disqualification.
Now, what that means is if they have a repeat of the scenes we saw inside the Stadvalodrome, then UEFA can throw and will throw, so they say, Russia out of this tournament.
As to what's happening on the ground in Lille, well, it's pretty quiet.
Russian supporters are here.
They're keeping a very low profile, not wearing their team's jerseys.
Also, England supporters here, again, they are keeping a low profile, not really playing.
out in their shirts, not really in the square drinking.
But just in the past hour or so, lots of Welsh fans have been arriving at the train station here.
They're proudly wearing their colours, drinking and singing.
