Uh it's true.
It d probably depends on what you really mean by depression.
Mm.
When I'm talking about depression I'm talking about the more severe forms of depression.
And I I think that conceptualizing as a form of grief is probably not the most effective way of of looking at it.
I mean at the end of the day people suffer enormously and you want to treat it.
So I think one thing is that anybody who's
had to contend with mental illness, whether it's depression or bipolar illness or severe anxiety, whatever
actually has a fair amount of resilience in the sense that they've had to deal with suffering already, uh personal suffering.
You have a certain experience of dealing with pain.
And extreme emotions.

Yes, I was actually struck by the fact that I'm not a big fan of saying, you know, that they're good things that come out of depression, but I think it's
also the case that there are some things that come out of of having to have dealt with adversity.
Yes, and you know, and and one of the reasons I wrote the book and and spent so much time on the distinction between depression and grief is that
People when they grieve often w want to know, you know, am I depressed?
Is there something psychiatrically wrong with me?
Or am I just missing someone?
You know, is it how long should it take?
