A tent that didn't move the entire time they were there, and the owner never showed back up.

At some point during the night, someone at the party fell onto it and flattened it.
And just after midnight, Maddie's parents arrived at Hogsback Lake.
Maddie had not come home.
She wasn't answering her texts or her phone calls.
Her parents found her pickup truck still there where she had left it, the doors still locked.
They found the campsite full of strangers.
And then they found her daughter's tent collapsed in the grass.
With no sign that Maddie had ever come back for it.
Maddie's parents left that area and called the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
And what followed was one of the most exhaustive searches in the history of Canada's third largest province.
And a question that I still think about all the time: How had Maddie disappeared from a campsite full of people?
On the afternoon of May twenty seventh, twenty eleven, the day before she disappeared, twenty year old Maddie Scott called her cousin to ask if she could reschedule the plans that they had made for that evening.
Maddie explained that she had just learned about a campfire birthday party that was being thrown that night and
You know, the boy she had a crush on was expected to be there.
She couldn't pass up the opportunity to go see him.
Her cousin understood she was a young girl too, and that's what teen girls do, and so they postponed their plans.
