Like they're in an interesting spot because they have an aging core in the Bo Horvaths and the Matt Barzels.
But then you strike gold with Matthew Schaefer and you have to kind of take a step back and be like, how do we build this for the future?
Are we going to be a team that's going for it as they did at the trade deadline last year?
Or are we going to be a team that drafts really well, collects a lot of assets and then

So the Islanders, instead of doing a lot of roster manipulation this offseason, they did some front office manipulation and really managed to get a lot of people in their front office that they make decisions, be creative.
And sometimes when you're kind of cap strapped and there's not too much you can do on the roster, you do it with the front office.
Yeah, he saw what worked in Tampa under Julian Breesbaugh and even Steve Eiserman to an extent.
And then he kind of gets mold in that front office structure.
And then when he gets his opportunity in New York, he brings in guys like Ryan Bonus, like an Evan Gold, who we're interviewing for general manager positions.
Evan Gold was a finalist in Vancouver.
And, you know, they couldn't work out the final details.
And then that obviously led to his departure in Boston.
But he's bringing in guys who are right on the cusp of a full time GM job.
And those are the guys who, like you mentioned in the past, you might be hesitant to bring on because you think they're going to potentially be a successor for your job.
But at this point, you need to kind of bring on all the brains that you can so that you can build a successful, sustainable contender, because that's what gets you to keep your job in the long run.

You're probably not thinking Darsh is on a short leash, but there's always the potential that sometimes these ownerships want quick results.
And if you aren't able to produce them, they might make a change.
