you know, other entertainers seem to bend themselves to to to her rather rather than vice versa.
And then obviously, you know, you've touched upon her her her her incredible uh philanthropy as well, much of which she sort of did in a very low key sort of Yeah,
Yeah, something like 176 million books, I think Matt at this stage has been have been distributed through her um imagination library, which she set up in the mid nineties as a sort of a uh a a tribute to her to her own dad, who who who was illiterate like like many, like many men of of of that era.
Um, you know, he was a sharecropper, he couldn't read or write, and uh she set up this uh this
this library to prom to promote reading amongst kids.
And I think it started locally and has has gone around has gone around the world since.
And her father told her that, you know, proud as he was of the innumerable hits and songs that she's had down the years, that's that's the uh that that that contribution to American life is the thing that made made him most proud of her.
But apart from that, you know, she she was sort of she was still
steadfastly apolitical in terms of uh declaring a preference for either of the two uh you know the the the two main parties here but she was uh immersed in sort of you know she she was an activist really um
Yeah, and she contributed to the uh to the COVID vaccines uh quietly, but you know, g of uh giving substantial uh sums of money to to uh I think it was Vanderbilt University when they were trying to find a vaccine.
Um yeah, so she uh she she she really skillfully managed to just set about um uh championing the causes she believed in without ever kinda making

m making a fuss about it or making an explicit declaration about it.
And I think that was one of the other reasons she was so beloved.
You know, she wasn't remotely precious.
She was a superstar, but she she she wore it all very lightly and she obviously had that really wonderful sense of humor and and effortless one liners.
She kinda sort Daniel O'Donnell at home has that gift as well of just just this deadpan ability to to come back
