Well, what you're looking at is one side of the equation and not looking at the coercive funding mechanism that is actually financing this, whether it's through increasing the money supply or whether it's through taxation.
So the myth of free is vitally important.
So then say, well, I'm actually such a democratic socialist, I don't even believe in money.
So, yes, that's how we're going to make it free.
This is not recognizing that there are costs associated with all actions.
Your time is scarce.
Every minute you spend doing one thing, it's a minute you're not spent doing something else.
Every cubic pound of concrete that is used to build the Hans Hoppe Museum is not used to build the Rosa Parks Museum or the Mamdani Museum.
Where should it be located?
Should it be in the middle of Times Square or should it be in Montana?
Prices would be a way that you would generally coordinate these things with the profit incentive.
But there are no such prices to coordinate with under the concept of democratic socialism.
Once you say something should be free, the military, health care, housing, you've already lied and said something that costs trillions of dollars a year is free.
OK, so once you've passed that.
Notice there's a general expression, he who pays the piper calls the tune.
And this is where whoever's paying the piper, the piper is reliant on the person who pays him.
So he's going to have some influence on what the piper does.
This is exactly what takes place in the marketplace.
