You know, there are census records once you identify those names.

And are there names that correspond to the names in your family?

Where do they live?

I mean, I went to the Harris Library of Hilton Head was like immensely helpful with this book because they were kind of conducting research around U.S.

college troops.

They have said like they will help anyone, you know, who's trying to do that research.

And there are a lot of libraries around that will help you kind of navigate or figure out, OK, I have this ancestor.

How can I go further?

And what you'll see, like if you go through census records and you go and let's say you see a great-grandparent, you may see an older person living there.

And so who is that person?

Most likely they were a parent or grandparent.

They're someone who's a relative.

You may see other siblings that you didn't know about.

So I think it's just like there's this process of discovery that kind of unfolds.

Like one thing leads to another.

But I think there are just a lot of resources there.

The oral history and then like census data is a great place to start.

I think just that there was this idea of kind of like, you know, this, the same journals would say of like pulling string, like when you find one fact to keep pulling and going further and further back.

And so if you're doing an investigative piece, like you find out one fact and it leads to something else, there's another question that sparks.
