And this might seem really simple at first, but in practice it can get really hard because when you're a teenager, there's all these amazing things out there.
We have social media.
Their money can get spent very, very quickly.
But if you hold firm to going this is the amount of money that you have and that is it, it's really hard as a parent to say no to your child.
You know, if you want to go have a sandwich with your friends, that's your money, your decision.
they're gonna find it really hard and there's gonna be friction in the beginning.
But it's one of the most valuable things you can teach them, and that's living within their means.
And it means that you can work on your own budget a bit better because you know, okay, that pocket money's gone there now.
And they'll learn hard but early some of these rules about managing money.
Because you're better off running out of money when you're at home under the safety of your own parents.
And you're fifteen.
Exactly, or you're trying to get a mortgage, you're trying to learn these skills early.
So it's one of those firm but fair parenting things.
And it's really hard.

Yes, and that's where it does take a bit of planning.
But if you think about it, no matter what your children do when they grow up, no matter what career path they take, they're going to have to deal with money.
And I would hazard a guess there's not one person listening here that hasn't been stressed about money, worried about money, under pressure with money, trying to figure out how we're gonna get through this.
And the sooner we can get those things built into our kids, the more resilient they're gonna become, but also the more confident they're gonna become with money.
