I agree completely that this is a really significant podcast-host

I've had a hard time kind of reviewing the agenda and thinking about this because while I personally support Measure A, I think that when we as representatives of the city put out a statement that says what the city believes, especially when it's this contentious, and I think it's a 50-50 poll right now, we're representing the voices of people who didn't necessarily authorize us to say what they believed. podcast-host

my encouragement is like host a party at your house get people educated i think that's really our responsibility as council members is to inform and educate but not to represent a vote that may be erroneous i know that the people i've talked to i i think that podcast-host

Particularly in my district, I found that the more people I've talked to, I've found quite a few people against Measure A. And so as a representative of my district, if my limited fact finding right now says most of my residents are against this, I don't want to put my name on a statement that says, hey, the city of Santa Clara is for this, even though I may absolutely be myself. podcast-host

And so I'm willing to host an info session, bring the supervisors to my house. podcast-host

I see the urgency in this, but I think that it muddies our line of responsibility. podcast-host

And again, makes a statement that I don't know that all of our residents are unilaterally making with us. podcast-host

I think you guys did a great job of distilling what was a huge amount of community input into kind of the culmination of some really great event suggestions and activations. podcast-host

I do think this is the first time we've seen the budget as well. podcast-host

There certainly is area to tighten that up and really start identifying case by case what actual costs will be. podcast-host

I wanted to clarify, you know, the community wanting to have watch parties was such a substantial thing. podcast-host

But when I talk to people about it, even like the Bay Area host committee, their suggestion is to have watch parties on non-event days. podcast-host

And I don't think that we get people showing up after the game is over to rewatch a game like we would if we had it live. podcast-host

Now, I don't know where that matches with the activation zone, but I think when we look at... podcast-host

And I've heard members of this council say it when we were approving these contracts, we cannot put value on the experience of people and what this does to a community long term. podcast-host
