It was really tempting for me because I held off buying one for as long as I could and

So people have said that PlayStations in certain parts of the world like Japan where the currency's weaker are less expensive and we're potentially looking at a future where these consoles are going back to being locked to regions.

Yeah, everything is moving towards maximum profit extraction from gamers and if we only have those digital storefronts available, Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo have full control over pricing.

Uh these things aren't interoperable between consoles.

And they weren't with discs anyway, in the way that they might be with PCs and stuff.

So there's fewer sales and fewer deals.

And the deals that I've seen in the PlayStation store

abysmal for the most part.

There's no resale markets left like CEX, so users can't trade games in when we go Disculus.

And there's no secondhand market where people can access games at a discounted rate either.

So it completely obliterates people's ability to share games with friends or family.

Yeah.

Well I mean it's a stupid move from a marketing perspective because if I loan a game to one of my friends and they end up talking about it to three or four or five friends who go on to buy it based on their recommendation, then like that's a net positive from like one person not playing paying for the game to play, you know?
