But that communion with tragedy that I had, that familiarity with my grandfather dying young, my father getting shot, my sister being murdered in the horrible way she was.
It gave me an understanding of something that's the human journey, the human experience is what I'm good at. And because of what I've lived, there's a kind of almost authority to it. So as an actor, I would just uncover that and bring it to it. And I know that was probably helpful. That's what's the irony of it is that the suffering was helpful for making something genuine or authentic.
