Well, it is to me β
At the moment, the game is being played in a way that teams are defending like it's, look, let's just, let's not worry about defense.
We'll just wait till we get the ball back.
And that's the way the game's going.
It's like, to win a game 42-38, I think it's embarrassing for both teams.
Because half the game is defense.
But given the way the rules are being interpreted and applied...
But teams aren't getting the opportunity to basically do the defense.
They're too fatigued.
They're exhausted.
By the time they give up the ball, when you're doing 8, 9, 10, 11 tackles in a row, that busts you up.
And if you get up to β we've seen instances on the weekend where teams have got up to 14, 15 straight tackles.
You're always going to at some point break when that's the case.
Now, I just think that there's just too much β
of that in the game.
The other problem in the game, and this has been a long-standing problem in the game, which I've whinged and moaned about this for a long, long time, and there's no effort, not even any interest in changing this, is the lack of contested possessions.
So if you're a team that can hang onto the ball in the modern game, it's very difficult to get beat.
Now in the old days, you could go to a scrum and give yourself, remember they used to give you the winning percentages of each hooker?
Before games.
Yeah.
