He's come into contention for the Dragons job next season and beyond that.

He's one of the coaches that it's been spoken about.

Matty Johns came out strongly today to –

endorse him and say how impressive he is.

And I think everybody that's met Michael Checker and seen how he's operated has been impressed by how he manages a group of men, how he speaks to them, how he prepares them.

He gets it all right.

Now, the pluses for him as a coach

is the X's and O's of being a rugby league coach.

You don't really need to know him.

He's picked up a lot in his time as an assistant to Trent Robinson, which essentially is why he's there.

Him and Robbo have got a good relationship.

They're a friendly relationship.

And he's basically gone to Robbo and asked to be part of the staff team

in a bid to pick up the rugby league intricacies and eventually will hopefully one day become a rugby league coach.

And Robbo has been happy to teach him along the way.

So that's what their relationship is.
