You're working 10-, 12-hour days or whatever.

You're up during the night calving cows.

My name is Kerry Desmond.

I'm from Bandon.

I'm currently share farming with Shnock Estates in Bandon.

I grew up on a small beef farm with 40, 50 acres at home, so there was no dairy farm at home for me.

So I knew growing up that I wanted to do dairy.

I loved dairy farming, and so I knew I needed to look at other options.

I'd be milking at half five, and I'd be finished out of the yard at quarter past seven.

I couldn't go leasing straight away.

I couldn't go farming at home.

So this share farming opportunity came up.

I'm here now three years.

It's working really well in partnership with Chinooka States.

We split everything 60-40.

60 to me, 40 to Chinooka States.

It's a real good system.

Chinooka States want the farmer to succeed and to progress after four or five years.
