My name is Kerry Desmond.

I'm from Bandon.

I'm currently share farming with Shnock Estates in Bandon.

I grew up on a small beef farm with 40, 50 acres at home, so there was no dairy farm at home for me.

So I knew growing up that I wanted to do dairy.

I loved dairy farming, and so I knew I needed to look at other options.

I'd be milking at half five, and I'd be finished out of the yard at quarter past seven.

I couldn't go leasing straight away, I couldn't go farming at home, so this share of farming opportunity came up.

I'm here now three years, it's working really well in partnership with Sianaca States.

We split everything 60-40, 60 to me, 40 to Sianaca States.

It's a real good system.

Sianaca States want the farmer to succeed and to progress after four or five years.

It's a seven-year contract.

But they want you to move on really after four or five years onto another opportunity.

And so then another young farmer can come in and take your place.

Hopefully it'll be a larger share farming opportunity or maybe lease a farm myself.

It all depends on what comes up in the future.

Now share farming hopefully will become more popular.

And the more we showcase these share farming farms working well, the more people will tend to go for them.
