It's not a chore.
It's an exciting thing we're doing.
Yeah, a lot of times what the board might be doing, the staff won't directly see, but they'll hear about it.
But they'll also see it from how budgets go together.
The board's got to approve that budget.
And budgets come with very large expenses in them.
And so the board's not aligned and you've got a budget that's going to spend some money.
And maybe it can be difficult for banks, especially the publicly traded banks, to have really long-term goals that are going to set back profitability for just a little bit or greater goal later.
The privately held banks have a little easier time of doing that.
But either way, that has to be understood.
And if that's part of the equation, and sometimes it is, if you're making a drastic change,
You think back to the days of a good example and strategic plan, I think is Xerox.
They saw themselves as a copy company.
They didn't realize that anything was changing around them.
And to reinvent themselves, they would have had to take some steps backwards.
to reinvent themselves.
You gotta be able to do that sometimes.
If you come up with all this data and you see a certain path that makes sense, you might have to take some steps backwards to get there.
So the board's gotta be aligned and the staff will see it.
If management's struggling with the board to move past a certain hurdle and they're not getting that buy-in, all of a sudden everybody's commitment shatters.
