A lot of it's because he's concentrated on improving his defense.
But part of it was because this is a guy who became very much a full-side hitter and a guy who drilled a lot of balls into the ground.
And he was kind of trying to figure out.
He spent last year taking a lot of swings trying to figure out what was wrong and regaining that.
you know, that effectiveness at the plate.
And this year he did a deeper dive into the biomechanics and looked at the data and found that he was, you know, what Henry told me was that he was putting almost all of his pressure on his back leg and didn't really have the balance.
And so that was one of the things that they discovered, you know, but a lot of it had to do with balance.
A lot of it had to do with, you know, having a,
a clean swing across the plane and having one that could cover the plate no matter what kind of pitches.
So this is a guy who struggled against, you know, he's known as a fastball hitter, even though he hasn't hit them that well in the majors, but he struggled against off speed and breaking pitches and he's trying to improve there.
I don't know that,
you know, that we're going to see the results immediately.
But I think people are already just from posting videos.
I think some people are already noticing a difference that he's a little more upright in his stance, that he's keeping his hands off his shoulders and that, you know, that there's some,
obvious changes that he's made to, you know, to his approach at the plate and to his swing, his stance in his swing that, you know, that could pay dividends if he's going to be more of the regular catcher, because he really, you know, kind of by midseason, he had kind of started splitting time with Joey Bartas, the starting catcher, and he became Paul Skeen's personal catcher, catching, I think, his final 28 starts.
Well, that's the one thing I get from Henry, and I've gotten to know him pretty well over the last year plus, that he's
He he is confident and that he works incredibly hard.
And so there's there's a reason behind the confidence that he's put the work in, that he knows that there's talent.
I mean, he's a guy who believes he was every bit of being deserving of being the number one overall pick, even though, you know, he was considered a top five pick either way.
You know, the Pirates got him under slot value.
