That's when they tell you the truth.
And you can't do enough of that.
If anybody comes into my office and they ask for career advice, I always say, pick your organization first and your job second.
So as physicians are thinking about, I want to be a CEO, my advice is to pick an organization that you're proud to say you work at.
that has the financial strength to weather the ups and downs, the economic cycles that we'll continue to go through.
Even as we get through the pressures that we talked about, you know, we may have a little bit of sunshine, but the economic cycle in healthcare is, it had been on every 10 years, it's probably every five years.
So you have to have that organization that can sustain the ups and downs.
And the last part is have the organization that's going to have the intellectual curiosity, as you said, Lucia, to keep thinking about what's next instead of about what was.
But how do we trim the sails?
How do we get ready for the future?
Again, we're going to have to reimagine.
I talk about a pen repair program.
refocus and reimagine, repair what's broken, refocus on why we got into the business, which is clinical outcomes, patient experience, and reimagine how we deliver care.
And still with the payer, you know, it's a banging heads against each other.
We have a great relationship with our local independence Blue Cross.
It could be even stronger.
So how do we incent people for doing the right thing?
I mentioned the amount of work we do at home.
I would
like to get more incentive, meaning better pay so I can do more at home, the first reaction is, well, we'll take it out of the hospital.
